How to Fund My Internship

Below are a number of resources students can consult to fund their internship experience.

Be sure to consider whether certain scholarships are applicable to international or domestic internships.

Humanities+ Internship Funding

Eligible applicants with a major in the College of Humanities will be funded as follows:
  • Off-Campus Internships in Utah: $500
  • Domestic Internships outside Utah: $1000
  • International Internships: $1500-$2500, depending on program cost and financial need.
Eligible applicants with only a minor in the College of Humanities will be funded at half these amounts.

Kennedy Center Scholarships

Scholarships opportunities coordinated through the Kennedy Center. Some BYU-sponsored scholarships are included while others are sponsored by outside organizations. Grants are also available.

Liberal Arts Advisement and Careers

Scholarships offered through the Liberal Arts Advisement and Careers office. This includes scholarships offered through the college of Humanities not linked otherwise on this page.

HUMGrants

As part of the Humanities college's support of experiential learning, the BYU Humanities Undergraduate Mentoring Grants program (HUM Grants) offers resources for student-initiated, faculty-mentored research projects outside the classroom. Students can apply to the College of Humanities, with a faculty mentor’s endorsement, for up to $1,200 in scholarship funding to support their work.

BYU Financial Aid Scholarships

Visit the BYU Financial Aid website to learn how to apply for and receive financial aid through BYU scholarships.

Foreign Language Area Studies Scholarship

The Foreign Language Area Studies Scholarship is a U.S. Department of Education scholarship that encourages the study of specific underrepresented languages. This scholarship provides full tuition and a $5,000 stipend for undergraduate students. For graduate students, the scholarship offers full tuition and a $15,000 stipend. Students must plan to use the language in their future career.

Life Sciences Travel Grant

A Life Science Internship Travel Grant encourages research and promotes academic internships. Students who are interested in applying for college support should first contact their department to request financial assistance from the department for travel expenses. Once the department has approved funding for travel, students may complete the application. Follow the link to see the requirements for the grant.

Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship

A scholarship for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding to pursue academic studies or credit-bearing, career-oriented internships abroad. Scholarship provides up to $5,000.

Institute For Humane Studies at George Mason University

A scholarship for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding to pursue academic studies or credit-bearing, career-oriented internships abroad. Scholarship provides up to $5,000.
