Internships must meet the following requirements:

Supervision

  • Autonomy for students to advocate for their professional development
  • Informally structured
  • Non-work setting
  • Restrictive or uninvolved supervision

Duration

  • Minimum of 8 weeks
  • Minimum of 42 work hours per credit hour
  • Less than 8 weeks

*Only unpaid internships qualify for funding through the College of Humanities

Academic Prerequisites

  • 60 graded credit hours at BYU (not including AP/IB credit)
  • Junior or Senior status
  • Intentional professionalizing experience
  • Develop professional competencies
  • Insufficient BYU coursework
  • Not Junior or Senior status
  • Repurposed experience solely to meet an academic program requirement
